Mission Statement:
The inspirational vision is mounted on and articulated by the
following missions:
1. To formulate sound policies
governing all levels of learning to guide the educational destiny of the nation
as it aspires to become a knowledge-society worthy of our vision and our heritage,
both as a means as well as an end;
2. To build a broadly liberal,
culturally sensitive, forward-looking, standards-based education system that
combines the best of received wisdom of successive generations and the results
of innovation and enterprise in the diverse fields of human endeavour;
3. To create the necessary
learning space and opportunities to engage the genius and potentials of all the
children and youth of the country in keeping with provisions of the
Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan, and to realize our pledge of green
schools for green Bhutan;
4. To prepare our young men and
women with the right values and skills, usefulness and gracefulness, to meet
the ever-growing needs of a developing country against the backdrop of a fast
globalizing world;
5. To build a cadre of highly
motivated and competent educators who are endowed with an abiding love of
children, a deep love of learning, and who passionately value education as a
positive instrument of empowerment;
6. To promote a system of
continuous and life-long learning though formal, non-formal as well as informal
modes to enable our citizens to participate meaningfully and constructively in
the life of the society;
7. To enable the participation
of private individuals and institutions, both from within Bhutan and beyond, to
build model seats of learning and to inspire excellence in education in keeping
with the provisions of our education policy.
